SMART Train Contracting Opportunity – Invitation for Bids for the 8th Street Warning System Repair Solicitation No. FR-BB-26-001

Project Description: SMART is seeking sealed bids from qualified, licensed, and experienced contractors to install, test, and commission a 26’ cantilever and mast (furnished by SMART) to replace an existing damaged cantilever.  

This project includes repair and replacement of components of an out-of-service grade crossing warning system located at 8th Street, in Schellville California, and complete testing and inspection required to place the warning system back into service. The Scope of Work includes traffic control, removal of existing cantilever masts on both North and South sides of the 8th Street at-grade crossing, installation of the District-furnished cantilever structure, furnishing, installing, and testing miscellaneous warning device components, wiring, tagging, signage, batteries, and removal and disposal of out-of-service batteries. 

Contractor’s License Required:  Type A – General Engineering Contractor
Department of Industrial Relations (DIR): Active Registration Required
Engineer’s Estimate: $100,000.00
Funding Source: State of California and Local Funds
Pre-Bid Meeting & Site Visit: September 24, 2026 at 10:00AM (Pacific), RSVP Required.
Bids Due: October 16, 2026, by 2:00PM (Pacific); Electronic Submission Only.
Public Bid Opening: October 16, 2026 at 2:30PM (Pacific)
