Ghilotti Bros., Inc. Expands Underground Division with TerraCon Team

San Rafael, Calif. — Ghilotti Bros., Inc. (GBI), the San Rafael-based general engineering contractor founded in 1914, is expanding its Underground Division through the integration of the TerraCon Constructors, Inc. team this October.

TerraCon, a Sonoma County underground utility and pipeline contractor, has built a strong reputation for specialized underground construction and a deep understanding of the work. The TerraCon team will join GBI’s Underground Division, which is overseen by GBI’s Underground Division Manager Brendan Smith.
Michael Lydon joins GBI’s Estimating team as a Specialty Underground Estimator, bringing experience on both the estimating and project management sides of underground construction. Steve Lydon, TerraCon’s current President, will continue to support the transition as a consultant to GBI, bringing his experience, industry knowledge, and relationships to the expanded team.

Expanding GBI’s Underground Capabilities

Underground utility and pipeline scopes have long been part of GBI’s ability to deliver full-service site development and heavy civil construction. The addition of the TerraCon team gives GBI’s Underground Division greater depth and specialized expertise to pursue stand-alone underground work, in addition to underground scopes included within larger site development or roadway projects.

For owners and general contractors, this means GBI can be considered for underground packages on their own merits, including wet and dry utilities, pipelines, and other specialized underground scopes.
