Director of Landscape Operations - Maintenance Division

We are looking for an experienced Director of Landscape Maintenance to manage all aspects of account maintenance, including sales, production, scheduling, and crew training, in line with current green industry standards. The Director of Landscape Maintenance will supervise crew leaders and maintenance staff, ensuring consistent, high-quality service across all accounts. This role will also involve frequent communication with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless operations. The Director of Landscape Maintenance plays a critical role in driving operational efficiency and the timely delivery of services, collaborating with various departments including Sales, Estimating, Human Resources, and Administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation and achievement of the company’s annual budget goals, strategic and production service plans.
  • Regularly update the President and Operations Manager on job progress, challenges, and any service-related issues.
  • Supervise up to five (or more) crews, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery.
  • Drive to multiple job sites to monitor job progress to ensure all accounts remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Enforce company safety procedures and immediately report any unsafe conditions.
  • Complete and report all accident documentation and workers' compensation claims in partnership with office manager.
  • Identify opportunities for service enhancements, supporting the selling, production, and billing of enhancement work.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure accurate and timely job execution.
  • Ensure all equipment is well-maintained and operated safely, with regular preventive checks.
  • Evaluate crew performance, providing feedback and training as necessary.
  • Lead the development and execution of training programs to ensure the highest standards of service and quality.
  • Manage the procurement and delivery of materials, ensuring availability and accuracy on job sites.
  • Process and submit vendor delivery tickets and all related paperwork to the Operations Manager daily.
  • Document and report daily field reviews, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness, and forward them to the Accounting Department and President for quality control.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of four years’ experience in landscape maintenance or construction.
  • Experience and ability to read and interpret landscape and irrigation plans, as well as install controllers and related components.
  • Proven experience managing multiple field crews, training and developing safety protocols.
  • Able to meet company license and insurance requirements to drive company vehicle to job sites.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred.
  • Certifications such as CLP (Certified Landscape Professional) or CLT (Certified Landscape Technician) are preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the landscaping role, including heavy lifting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, repetitive motion, and working in various weather conditions.
