Marin’s Wildfire Preparedness Public Forum
Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority will kick off National Wildfire Awareness Month with Marin’s Wildfire Preparedness Public Forum on Saturday, May 2.

This countywide event will bring residents, local fire agencies, and community partners together for an important conversation about wildfire risk, preparedness, and action in Marin. A central focus of the forum will be the public introduction of Marin’s Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP), which helps identify where wildfire risk is greatest, how fire may behave across Marin’s landscapes, and where prevention and evacuation planning matters most.
Attendees will hear presentations on Marin’s wildfire preparedness efforts, learn more about the updated CWPP, and have the opportunity to hear directly from industry experts during a panel discussion and Q&A. Following the formal program, residents can visit information stations featuring topics such as vegetation management, evacuation planning, detection and alerting, residential risk reduction, defensible space, fire-smart landscaping, and Chipper Days.

May 2 will also serve as a local Day of Action in recognition of National Wildfire Community Preparedness Day. In Marin, that effort will encourage residents to sign up for Chipper Days as a practical step to reduce vegetation debris and lower wildfire risk around the home. Registration for Chipper Day is available at www.chipperday.com/marin
