SMART – Invitation for Bids for the Railroad Timber Bridge Replacements: Basalt Creek (MP 29.31) & San Antonio Slough (MP 31.74)

Solicitation No. CV-BB-26-005; 

Project Description: SMART is seeking Sealed Bids from qualified, experienced, and licensed contractors to replace two existing timber railroad bridges (Basalt Creek MP 29.31 and San Antionio Slough MP 31.74) with steel open deck bridges on steel piles and precast abutments and wingwalls.  The replacement bridges are longer than the existing bridges and are to be installed behind existing abutments and headwalls, which are to remain in place.

There are environmental limitations on the work schedule and numerous best management practices for the construction work.

Contractor’s License Required:  Type A – General Engineering Contractor
Department of Industrial Relations (DIR): Active Registration Required
Engineer’s Estimate: $1,650,000 to $1,900,000
Funding Source: Federal Transit Administration 5337 and Local Funds
Pre-Bid Meeting & Site Visit: September 30, 2026 at 12:00PM (Pacific), RSVP Required.
Bids Due: October 21, 2026, by 2:00PM (Pacific); Electronic Submission Only.
Public Bid Opening: October 21, 2026 at 2:30PM (Pacific)
