About Us

Welcome to HarvestMarin: the Northern California Chapter of Harvest Eco-Salvage. We are dedicated to promoting sustainability and innovation within Northern California’s construction industry. As a part of HarvestWest, we have led the way in green building practices, focusing on eco-friendly deconstruction and salvage operations. Our mission is straightforward: to divert usable and recyclable building materials from landfills. We carefully recover these materials from demolition projects and home renovations throughout Northern California, transforming waste into valuable resources.

The HARVEST Eco-Salvage Program Explained:
As an environmental 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation, we grant non-cash charitable tax deductions. We base these on the market value of in-place real estate improvements that we salvage. An IRS-qualified real estate appraiser determines this. We DO NOT include the value of the underlying land because it is not within the scope of the donation.

Our project scope isn’t one-size-fits-all. Sometimes it looks like a total tear down, and sometimes it’s a major remodel. This program isn’t suitable for small remodeling projects. This is because of the appraisal and IRS compliance costs. The IRS recognizes the donor for keeping usable building materials out of our landfills. An IRS-qualified real estate appraisal backs the donation.
