DESCRIPTION:2019 Title 24 Part 6 Essentials - Residential Standards for Plans Examiners and Building Inspectors (open for contractors\, architects\, energy raters\, etc.)\n\nThis interactive\, "hands-on" course is designed to provide Plans Examiners and Building Inspectors with the knowledge and skills needed to more quickly and effectively enforce the Energy Code for residential projects.\n\n\n\nObjectives:\n\n\n	Identify Residential construction's "top six" areas of typical greatest impact on Energy Code compliance.\n	Identify "essential" Plans Examiner and Building Inspector review tasks associated with top Energy Code compliance categories\, and describe how review strategy shifts based on project type (Performance vs Prescriptive\; New Construction vs Additions vs Alterations).\n	Use given Plans Examiner and Building Inspector checklists to guide review\, and identify where checklist line items correspond to compliance documentation\, Plan Set drawings\, and observed on-site conditions.\n	Use Plans Examiner and Building Inspector Checklists and task prioritization strategies to perform a plan check or building inspection that is appropriate given your time available\, realities on the job\, & goals of Title 24\, Part 6.\n	Practice ways to address non-compliance\, as well as methods for communicating effectively\, during plan check and building inspection phases.\n\n\nInstructor: Brian Selby\, Selby Energy\, Inc\n\n\n\nBrian is a Principal at Selby Energy\, Inc.\, where his primary role is developing and delivering energy code training for the Energy Codes Ace Title 24 Essentials courses. He has over 30 years experience as an energy consultant and residential building designer and has been a HERS rater for over 15 years. He interacts with the California Energy Commission (CEC)\, Investor Owned Utilities (IOUs)\, association professionals and other industry stakeholders to foster education\, promotion and compliance with the California Building Energy Standards. For the past four years he has worked closely with CABEC and other stakeholders developing and implementing the CEA Exam program and is a member if the Compliance Improvement Advisory Group (CIAG). Brian is a Certified Energy Analyst (CEA)\, HERS Rater and serves on the CABEC board of directors. Born and raised in Sonora\, his background includes owning and operating a successful building design\, energy consulting and HERS rating business.
